So How Do I Become A Member?
The New Orleans Community Printshop is looking for new members!
To begin:
1) Fill out an application and hand it in to us! To download your own application click: Volunteer Application download
2) Get on a schedule and volunteer for 1 month’s time (every membership level). This is to benefit both you and the shop – everyone gets to know one another, and you get to see how we operate.
3) If your application to become a member is accepted, we will contact and work with you to find the best job for you in our shop, register you for an orientation and/or membership training, and schedule you as a volunteer as makes sense with the membership you are applying for.
Membership Options
At the New Orleans Community Printshop and Darkroom
Key Member– Use this beautiful print shop!
Perks: 24 hour use of the print shop. SILKSCREEN: use of print shop screens, ink, emulsion and remover is included. Paper is for sale at varying rates in the shop. DARKROOM – darkroom and chemical use is included
Responsibilities: $100/month plus $50 joining fee plus a $10/month unlimited ink/lab fee (subject to change). No work hours required. Must attend an orientation and sign our membership contract, agreeing to all rules, regulations, and accountability. Key Members are not required to attend monthly meetings.
Volunteer Key Member – Help this beautiful print shop run smoothly!
Perks: 24 hour use of the print shop. SILKSCREEN: use of print shop screens, ink, emulsion and remover is included. Paper is for sale at varying rates in the shop. DARKROOM – darkroom and chemical use is included
Responsibilities: $50/month plus $50 joining fee plus a $10/month unlimited ink/lab fee (subject to change). Ink used for Contract Jobs is NOT included in this fee. 16 work hours a month required, in the volunteer job specifically applied for (more info at orientations). Must attend an orientation and job training and sign our membership contract, agreeing to all rules, regulations, and accountability. 3 month minimum contract required. Must attend 1 scheduled meeting a month for scheduling and checking in with the shop as a group. This meeting does not include shop logistics, or large voting issues.
Administrative Member – Keep this beautiful shop open and growing!
Perks: 24 hour use of the print shop. SILKSCREEN: use of print shop screens, ink, emulsion and remover is included. Paper is for sale at varying rates in the shop. DARKROOM – darkroom and chemical use is included
Responsibilities: $35/month plus $50 joining fee (subject to change). 24 work hours a month required, in the administrative job specifically applied for (see a current administrative member). Only administrative members have voting power for the direction and decisions within the print shop. Must attend an orientation and job training and sign our membership contract, agreeing to all rules, regulations, and accountability. 3 month minimum contract required. Must attend 2 meetings a month, a scheduling meeting and a core meeting as well as schedule and go to other smaller meetings as needed with other administrative members. Minimum of one month as volunteer member required to be considered.
Part of our membership application process is submitting an application and having our administrative core review your application. The Administrative Members vote on your application using consensus. This may take a short time, but we promise that we will get back to you!
