Hello all Printers!

The New Orleans Community Printshop is excited invite you to participate in our upcoming exhibition celebrating the vast array of printmaking in New Orleans, and the democratic nature of printing:
POST NO BILLS

Is this a juried show?
nope! come one, come all, and bring your friends and their prints….

When to Submit:
Please drop off prints during one of these three days: Thursday March 9th 6-10 pm, Sunday March 11th 1-5 pm or Tuesday March 13th (6-10 pm) (very last chance!)
YOU MUST PUT YOUR NAME AND PHONE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF THE WORK, IN PENCIL, TO HELP FACILITATE ITS RETURN.

What to submit:
we are looking for prints from any artists working in Louisiana – the only parameters are: it must be a print, and it must have been made in Louisiana. It can be an etching, a woodcut, a monoprint, a letterpressed print, a poster, a fine art piece, an invitation……

How will it hang? work will be hung with a system of acetate and pins that do not put pinholes in the work, or that sticky stuff that leaves a greasy stain.

what is ‘ephemera’?

ever printed on a skateboard? a wooden box? a shoe? we want to display the versatility of print-media, so bring it down and we will either hang it or display it on a shelf/pedestal.

Can i submit more than one piece?
yes! but due to potential limitations of space, please limit yourself to 3 pieces, and we cannot guarantee all three will hang. note: SMALL PIECES (less than 8.5 x 11) are always needed when hanging a poster wall (it’s like playing tetris, very slowly) so bring as many of those as you’ve got!

I have this neat print my friend made, can i put that in?

as long as you have the artist’s permission to sign our exhibition form and it was printed in Louisiana, sure!

Sorry folks, our powerwasher just stopped working – so until further notice, we will have to cancel Open Shop.  We are currently unable to blast out screens, or coat new ones.   We apologize for the inconvenience, but we do hope to have it fixed in a day or two. We will keep you updated!

Thank you so much Kyle Durrie and all the wonderful folks who came out to see the magic she creates in her truck!!!! Kyle has been traveling cross country stopping in a huge array of states filling city’s with beautiful prints and a love of old fashioned type printing!!! We were so impressed!… and I think a large number of us would have loved to jump on board. If you are fortunate enough to encounter her in another city in another time and place, we at the printshop highly recommend you Check out this amazing project!Image
